The Model A

The scooter that started it all off Innocenti, left the production line in Milan in October 1947th At the end of its production in October 1948 in all 9,669 machines had been built. Overall, the machine was both economical and fast (40-45 km / h). He was radical in its design, but easy to use. The frame was a tubular design and consisted of two sections. The front consists of a section of pressed steel head attached to the steering head, which kept the fork. The rear section consisted of two chrome pipes around the fuel tank and connected to a toolbox of pressed steel. The 123cc engine is directly air-cooled and shaft drive. The gearbox has been a 3-speed that was led off by a rod mechanism, a system that was dropped on all subsequent Lambretta. The suspension was extremely limited, consisting of nothing behind the scooter and only two shrubs in the front fork.

All cables are housed inside the frame, while the look very clean and tidy, does not help when you need to change a broken cable. A very interesting feature of the model A, which was dropped in later models, a cup of oil was very useful to measure integrated into the fuel tank cap. The ceiling itself was green plastic, but had a metal insert, so you can measure the exact amount of oil required every time you meet. Stop the power came in the form of drum brakes that had cast iron brake shoes and friction material lining the drum itself.

Innocenti all their models constantly updated and refined their scooters. A model actually took place in three versions, if you take into account all significant changes in its production. A model is available in six colors are gray, blue, green, beige, red and brown, which was a pastel color. It is believed that the colors we have places like old military factories and other sources that had plenty of paint left by the war.

Since its launch, the Model A comes with a stamped steel plate as the seat base, covered with a light brown leather. 7-inch chrome rims wheels three nuts on the front and three in the back, which are also required from the rim to the hub, causing a minor problem when it came to change the tires because the tires should be left with to do so. The cover of the steering wheel on the first drafts were painted the same color as the body. The horn is a mechanic and was operated by a pedal near the floor. The stand was also "mechanical" he had to lift when taking the bike off its stand, so when the horse A, the bracket is held in place with a clip at the bottom of the chassis.

The attention to detail was one of Mr. Innocenti is a major concern on his Lambretta, with details such as the lock for lunch also included a switch, the key to the position of the scooter would be when the key was removed, stopped the scooter. The foot pedal speed offset (the only one with this Lambretta) + and - pedals were consistent with each other, also bid on a license plate holder, although at that time in Italy, the law requires no license plates.

Later versions or another had a return spring on the stand, which was now thrown together rather than welded to the destination than the first version. It can only be done, that the problems occurred in the wheels and hubs, or the designers came up with a better method for the rear hub in this six-wheel nuts. Three bolts and nuts will hold the rim halves together, while three others held on the wheel hub. The front has remained the same, however, only three clips holding together the entire assembly. Other updates were again lunch is no longer inserted in the ignition inside the Killswitch button was placed in a hole that was previously held by the mechanical lever Horn. Horn has been replaced by the mechanical power, or the flywheel magneto cover was painted in silver and circles. Rear license plate bracket was also abandoned, as above, do not need time in Italy.

Small changes at the end of the production cycle were mainly in the seat. This is now a curved base is also adjustable for anchoring the vinyl cover was brown. In Italy, the material is called PEGAMOIDES, a plastic material and tight. The support was built alloy seat now. Finally, the foot instead of alloy, was not made of cast iron.

Overall, Model A, even though she got a slow start was an overall success. Due to high, production and attention to detail Innocenti never recovered costs in a model that really lost money rather heavy. Demand is strong for the new scooter, and Innocenti was convinced that if the figure could increase production, profits would follow.

Production ran from October 1947 To October 1948 with a total Italian production of 9,669

Prototypes of Lambretta

The Automatic 'B'

The automatic "B" was produced by Innocenti in a joint venture with Kreis, a picture of German specialists. Dating back to November 1949, has the same set of IE found in any modern car, neutral - drive - 1 and 2. The gear selection is via a manual lever, and includes "kick-down", a foot to select a lower speed. It is believed that the only example of the three prototypes built at a cost believed to have prevented him from going into production.

The Lambretta twin

Innocenti twins was portrayed as a way to give more power to keep pace with ever increasing speed of new motorbikes come on the market. The engine is basically two 100cc cylinder, piston and crankshaft assemblies, in the side line side by side with each other. Of course, this gave a 200 cc, after mounting the machine, I can confirm all the reports he is the sweetest ever produced Lambretta / prey. Much more torque (pulling power) is made of extra cylinder, although we are unsure of the speed.

From the front it looks like a double standard SX, it is not until you start looking at the scooter as you notice something is not quite right.

To start with the floor panels are cut, the rear frame legs and a second position, and smooth.

Although the scooter as a whole is an excellent location in terms of extra parts, it is necessary to move some things around, you can almost see the small toolbar that has been used in the production, because the compressed air is required double and 20mm carbs.

This side view gives a better indication of the air system, the shape of the tool box, carbohydrates require pipes and other mods like.

Twin cylinders are obviously two separate rain going in the exhaust box, it seemed to be a complete unit, recalls the silence of the body, the J-series exhaust, indicating that the Innocenti on the "family" when designing this model Lambretta

Apart from the drive unit to turn against Smiths, which works well, apparently this side view of the main deck differs little from a standard cylinder of producing a single unit.

The headquarters of the double, but pretty standard looking at how the characteristics of the style that made waffles in the production of the last models produced by Innocenti, electronics GP.

A feature of the two that never saw production was re-designed disc brakes. This is a fixed disk and move the pillows, as opposed to floating disc that all production models had. From this page, see it as a standard Lambretta disc.

That is until you look around the other side and see the different operating mechanism.

There are two reasons for not making this Italian experts, depending on the listener.

1) Too expensive to produce.

2) It is not enough orders, Lambretta United Kingdom in 1000, we said OK, now, but can not commit to buying other importers. Innocenti wanted to order more secured before they could block the production of something more profitable.

The DLD

D / LD was not a true prototype Innocenti rather an exercise in what may have looked like a prototype. Mike Karslake was commissioned to produce this machine as a prototype at the time of D and LD began production. It uses parts of both the Model D and LD why this name.

Factory Of Lambretta

Unfortunately, in 1971 / 2 Innocenti factory closed its doors as the owners decided BMC Lambretta were a gadget, and the production of cars was important. It's pretty sad that between four to five years at the time, people who are responsible for BMC have been reported to make decisions about the strange car market in England, where many historians regard as the early death of British car manufacturers and Lambretta Italian!

Innocenti closed when the doors are two and three wheeled products, the factory was sold in all of them, the Indian government, which set up Motor Scooters India Limited. SIL still shows today, but produces only three-wheeled products. Up to SIL Lambrettas closed two wheels around 1998.

Eibar Spanish factory continued long after the closure of Innocenti, Lambretta and Servet built in the 1980s.

Innocents in 1995, most of the factory was demolished and houses built, but some auto-production factories, ports, Center for Studies, Research and design of the Innocents construction, and other small buildings remain, most must be flat .

In The Beginning Of The End

This change in the direction of the company held in a particular period in the political, social and financial Italy.

Policy

The characteristic of this stage is the political stability of governments and the few who can say that the various parties and politicians in general were more interested in creating centers of power to maintain and increase momentum known high as industrial production the "economic miracle", thanks to which Italy had reached a very high standard and had acquired an important position in the international arena. Political administrations, conditioned by the left parties have not been able to harness the growth potential offered by the industry.

Trade

Note that since the Innocenti company has always been very involved in politics, and the union was able to mobilize workers in just a few hours. Better and more humane working conditions and the real benefits that were requested. The "equality" flag is often used as an excuse to transform simple and realistic demands into a class struggle. This unrest damaged production and took the resources of industrial research and investment. Almost every week the company was to endure strikes and had to give in to blackmail of the unions. Necessarily, the union had an influence on company decisions.

Market economy and

Traditional scooter users turned to small cars. In 1967, the Fiat 500 was very comfortable and reliable in its class, and was sold at a very low price of 475 000 pounds, while the SX 200's price is 219 000 pounds! Turin made popular small car also had the advantage of very low power consumption, not far from the Lambretta scooters. Demand for scooters was slowly but inevitably decline, and not enough to support a differentiated production and new projects. The total production of vehicles, including scooters, motorcycles and vans, from 144 000 units per year in 1963, a gradual decrease in 107 150 1966 84 885 1967 82 121 in 1968 and 62 209 in 1969.

The company

After the death of the charismatic figure of the founder, who was always able to control his co-operation, have stopped working synergistically and began to try to gain leadership in the management of the company. "The old pioneer" felt a scooter as a creature, but this was not the case for a strong and leaders who were in his place, so that did not develop the production of the situation demanded. The production has now been times too expensive. At Piaggio, which has suffered from the market itself, the lines were rather rapidly automated. In fact, this company has managed to overcome the difficult moments, thanks to the great financial aid to Fiat.

Gradually the members of the management that they were somehow linked to the legendary Lambretta and development proposal of nostalgia, were losers against those who believed the car a unique opportunity to revive the company. No company has managed to move the machine to the production car. Some, like Triumph, BMW and DKW, the thought of the cars from the start and therefore developed the technology and research in parallel.

Nuccio Bertone in 1967 was responsible for improving the design Lambretta. DL model was produced quickly (January 1968) in the 125-150-200 cc models. Also a new 50 and 75 cc motorcycle mechanics derived from J 50 was produced. This was also designed by Bertone, and production began in March 1968. Despite this last attempt to renew the design Lambretta Innocenti chief of staff in 1968 was already aware that stops the scooter production was only matter of time.

In 1971 Luigi Innocenti had problems with his health and could be used as a difficult situation demands, the left end of the company. The last model (DL) is no longer made in April of that year, and J 50 the following year. Several vans were a reasonable number patterns up to December. Vechicles total in 1971 is made 11222-3400, by DL, 2153, J 50 De Luxe and Special models, vans, and 5669, 72 of which completed the first ten days of January 1972.

End

Innocent company, leader in the field of two-wheeled vechicles and immense know-how from the research (that certainly surpassed the technology may mean), was sold to Leyland and the heavy engineering division became Innse (Sant'Eustachio Innocents). Thus, the new company would have destroyed the market, trade unions, the myopia of the political class, and an unfortunate heir, when a free hand to slow but unbending Japanese penetration. Plants were emptied and the assembly line model sold in India last year (Scooters India), where the Lambretta models DL 150 and 200 would have been for many years.

In the creation Lambrate cars were made with the Innocenti brand and with BMC engines (the same as the Mini) and later with the Japanese engines (Daiatsu). In the latter, and not much more enlightened management of De Tomaso, the plant also hosted the Maserati assembly line and managed to place models on the market over a very good car, the DC 2000, two and four door, convertible and coupé Maserati Biturbo. But this car was not a success, an event due more to lack of publicity of the qualities of the vehicle. The production then moved to Modena and Innocenti premises every production activity was ceased. The workers were employed in part by Maserati, some of them public institutions, others were encouraged to retire early or at least resign.

When production of the Lambretta also made in India, was called "Grand Prix" and its design has been extensively modified. The die-cast equipment used for over 25 years is offered to the highest bidder, but the amounts proposed are too low, the assembly lines were left to themselves in time and strongly resisted.

Mark Innocenti and the agents were taken over by Fiat and are now used to identify some of their cars, mainly produced in Brazil.

The region that once belonged to Innocenti, at that time engulfed by the city who had seen the industry grow, expand and then dies has been the subject of several plans. One of these, ironic as it may be, is a profanation unconsciuos a company that was once one of the most modern in Europe and is strongly supported by some people who probably never had the chance to own a scooter Lambretta: the plan for a waste recycling plant large, opponents of useless people in the region.

People who, for various reasons, have had something to do with the Innocenti company in the past, at least recall the Lambretta scooter. There is and always will be in each of the world, many owners and fans of this scooter, which is now a cult which was saved from destruction.

Structural Reforms And Changes

Conversion plans have been launched in three phases.

1. Low-cost production by the working class.

2. Mechanical engineering and metallurgical plants

3. Development sintering processes.

The vehicle should be the Lambretta. The idea came from vehicles dropped in Rome by the British parachute. Innocenti thought that similar vehicles could be of great interest in a country where people needed a vehicle to move quickly. In Guidonia Innocenti met Colonel D'Ascanio, but they soon discovered they had different ideas on the vehicle must be designed. Colonel D'Ascanio was in fact later engaged by Piaggio, which he created the "Vespa" scooter. Innocenti contacted another colonel at the Experimental Centre in Guidonia, Ing. Torre, who was to become "father" of the Lambretta scooter. In metallurgy Ferdinando Innocenti wanted to exploit the research and experience of Calmes at Apuania on the production of seamless tubes. Sintered materials in the idea was to produce bushings and bearings for electric motors and endothermic machinery.

It was an ambitious restructuring and conversion program, which involves a qualitative and quantitative analysis of employment. There was the time 691 skilled workers, specialists and foremen, workers and 969 unskilled workers, 729 women, 146 boys delivery, Watchmen, users and drivers, employees and designers in 2252, totaling 2767 people : 1900 to Lambrate, 500 of Guerra III, 367 by Guerra II. Around a hundred people working outside of the local ATA, etc.

People had to be reduced to about 970 and about 2000 were rejected. At the end of 1945, the activity was very rare - only a hundred people worked on building the bodies of electric motors Bezzi. This activity does not even cover costs, so raw materials were sold, 42,000,000 lire worth of Treasury bonds were sold in Rome, 3,000,000 lire were recovered with the sale of stocks Dalmine. But to live that the company needed to recover 175 million lire of credits, mainly from Germany.

In early 1946 still had 800 employees, more than 150 employees. November 12, 1946 is the first financial investment for reconstruction and production was (300 million pounds, which began in 1947. Shortage of coal and electricity caused many delays, but the third installment (sintering) was rejected because the technology has been overtaken by time. At the end of 1946 was part of the orders already received: 6 special machines Dalmine 200 tons in total, the construction of tube mills Yugoslavia (3200 tons) and 1150 tons of machinery Polony.

These goods are paid for raw materials and coal. Production of scooters had been again delayed because of supply difficulties, and because the energy shortage. In addition, the product is completely new society. The first installment of 25 Lambretta was nearing completion when the Lambretta scooter two and a van were ready for the Universal Exposition in Paris. Commercial agents were at work 33 provinces and 3300 bookings had already been obtained. Scooters must be submitted no later than March 1948. Aluminum foundry was fully active and equipment for cast iron were prepared. The economic situation is still critical, but improved in April, thanks to a loan of one hundred thousand dollars for the U.S. Eximbank.

Instead, the newspaper Lambretta 150, no more than 10 have been made, especially since the organization defective and lack of economic resources. Mr. Calbiani reorganization designed to achieve the production of scooters days 25/30 and soon, by next spring, 50 days. The foundry was fully used to produce parts needed to make the Lambretta, is no longer the autonomous development of the Innocenti had foreseen in his three-point plan. Apuania city rebuilt, and Francesco Innocenti had an important role in the production of pipes makes rapid economic movements and the creation of new businesses. Lambrate establishment was run by Lauro who, in addition to having important knowledge in the industrialized world, but it was also very much enjoyed working Shipbuilding, IRI companies.

However, the automotive division remains a problem, and Lauro complained that "the production of scooters is an adventure putting the company at risk, all profits from the mechanical division is used and some of the reservation. " Mr. Moro also expressed his doubts to the management "of the Lambretta production due to a series of errors, cost the company a huge sacrifice," around 500 million dollars in the expected number.

A selection of projects to avoid possible errors in assessing the real possibilities of putting the bikes on the market, resulting in the production of a small low-cost "working-class tractor". Only 20 HP, which could be transformed into a small van by a national patent, and was already under construction in Hesemberg in Monza.

The production of the Lambretta M (first type) reached at the end of 1948, the potential of 80 to 85 units per day, but in fact, only 70 were produced by the difficulties in covering the national market. During the fall season, exports began to U.S. and Argentina, with a first batch of 2000 pieces. At the same time, a second model was designed (type B) that would occur in 1949 and was to address the many shortcomings of its predecessor. In fact, it seemed that the first model and essentially kept the same engine, but a new suspension system of the front wheels should be applied and the rear suspension was introduced a hand gear instead of foot gear and 8 inches instead of 7-inch wheels, and metallic colors.

A selection of projects to avoid possible errors in assessing the real possibilities of putting the bikes on the market, resulting in the production of a small low-cost "working-class tractor". Only 20 HP, which could be transformed into a small van by a national patent, and was already under construction in Hesemberg in Monza.

The heavy engineering division had no worries because there were orders to cover production a year and a half. Despite what someone said "in this period, we ate 30% to finance the production of Lambretta."

The company now had a truly modern and efficient management office. The president Ferdinando Innocenti was supported by Fioramonti and Fumagalli, Lauro was the general manager and a leader Guani Central Moro executive director. The mechanical division was run by Rey and the engine division, since June 1949, by Parolari.

In late October 1948, a 9660 Lambretta type were produced, and the genesis of this model was abandoned. Account costs in February 1949, showed a deficit of more than 800 million lire. But it was not a problem according to Ferdinando, because in the first three months of lost production model B had fallen from 200 million recovered by the sale of lucky this new model, which, as we said , no longer had an error of type A.

Production is now well organized and has grown from 70 pieces per day of January 1949 nearly 150 in July. It was hard to keep up with demand. Light transport vehicles with the scooter mechanics have been produced since March 1949 at a rate of four per day. Also the heavy mechanics were now working well, largely thanks to a large supply requested by Austria.

On June 30, 1949, the following were the board: President Ferdinando Innocenti, Chief Lauro, Luigi Innocenti advisors (son of Fernando), Giussani and Pestalozzi.

Two new models of improvement (125 and 125 C faired CL) was introduced in January 1959. The production of 60,000 motorcycles are planned, double compared to the previous year. The increased production means the construction of a plant opening and moderning new production equipment, especially for the gears and aluminum castings. The production of new models launched before the processing line was completed, and no more than the previous model bikes were in stock. In May, 5500 and pieces were made in a month, in July of 260 pieces a day were made, 160 C and LC 100, which equates to 6,200 per month. In 1951, production increased to 7,000 per month. Sales have exceeded expectations in 1952 and a further increase and it was decided to increase production in 8000. In December 1951, two new types were ready, D and LD, the first low-cost model and efficiently the second, more elegant and linear.

Meanwhile, a manufacturing license for Lambretta bikes had been granted to NSU in Germany (1950), and France, a similar agreement was made for an initial production of 13,000 motorcycles. The majority of the shares belonged to Innocenti.

When the Model D, 8000 units per month have been achieved and exceeded. In 1952, for a total of 96 000 vehicles produced, 16 000 of which are exported. This high production was difficult to place on the domestic market and abroad, has been some resistance, then in 1953 it was decided to design a cheaper type, model E, and produces a 70/80, 000 of this model, and 40 / 50, LD 000 model, the goal is to keep revenue at the same level. But the demand was expected level, even if there was an increase of 11% compared to 1952. 1063 copies of the motor van were produced in 1952 and 4780 the following year. Exports rose by 25% of total production.

In 1955 the Innocenti company obtained one of the most important work orders history: in fact, building a factory in Venezuela was a huge job, equivalent to 350 million dollars (the Fiat plant in encrypted Togliattigrad $ 920 million in Russian). Fiat also participate in the bidding, and combine the two companies. Work began in early 1956. Fiat was about to break the joint venture for the company Innocenti earned a revenue of 40 million dollars. The work was completed, even if the democratic government after ousting the head of Jimenez, decided that the cost was too high and not pay. But the government was the result of more favorable terms with Innocenti and finally respected the agreement.

The production of scooters in 1955 reached a good level, although not as good as in 1953. Earlier this year, a big wheel 48 cc two-speed motorcycle was launched ("Lambrettino 48"), with a production of 6,000 units and 22,000 units in 1956. Increase in total production (+ scooters motorcycles) is 20%.

Between 1958 and 1963 Italy was a great industrial boom. In 1961, there was an increased production by 97% compared to 1953. Innocenti accordingly increased production: given a production of 100 motor vehicles in 1957 rose to 103.5 in 1958 to 120 in 1959 to 148 in 1960.

In the 2800 tons heavy engineering machines were made in 1950, rose to 21,550 in 1960. Profits at the end of 1960 was 59% higher when compared to 1950. Share capital increased by 2000%. Much of the increase is due in Venezuela "business". Luigi Ferdinando Sun, who was vice president since 1958 and actually lived in the shadow of his father, managed to meet its long-life dream: he applied his decision - and that was the only time in his life - to build a motor car. This change was made necessary to use large income earned in previous years.

In 1957, Eng. Torre had been asked to design a small car, but then the Parolari (Lauro preferred) took Torre off the project because he wanted to be just one of the leading car-sharing. In 1957/58, the Tower has designed a prototype of a commercial vehicle that the plant could be built entirely innocent, but once again the project was rejected, early next year, when the contract is concluded with the construction Gogomobil Iseria 400 cm3, a small car. In addition, the Innocenti did not want to annoy the Fiat in the field of heavy mechanics.

In 1959, BMC of Birmingham was contacted to conduct an Austin 900 cm3 saloon: the A40. The agreement includes the assembly and painting of parts supplied by BMC. This was a seven-year deal on incomplete and unfavorable Innocenti. In a year or more of the A40 line treatment was completed at the end of 1960, production began with about 100 cars a day. The assembly line was certainly obsolete, if compared to Fiat.

In 1961-1962 he was also a division of the parties that support the production was ready for the A40, the roadster and coupe Bertone with the same mechanics as A40. The total production amounted to 20,900 units in 1962 and increased in 1963, when production of IM3 in the regular and super models to start, so at the end of the year, amounting to 30,600 units.

In 1966 at the age of 85 Ferdinando Innocenti Commander - which has undoubtedly been one of the brightest captains of industry and genius in the world - has died, and his son, Ing. Luigi succeeded him at the head of the company.

PRODUCTION RECONVERTED

In 1939 the Innocenti factory, declared by Starace during his visit on October 27, 1939 "A model of fascist activities" were in fact producing bullets. 90% of the workforce was engaged in war production . In 1939 Innocenti workers making bullets were only 5.5% of the total production of ammunition Italians, but the mechanical production of the plant is 17% of the total in Italy.

In four years, Innocenti tripled its production plants and ten times, with 36,000 bullets produced per day in 1943. People working in the factory in Milan was close to 800 in 1938 and rose to 2,000 in 1940 and 3000 in 1941, 6000 and in 1942 over 7000 in the spring of 1943, labor mostly unskilled , 50% women.

Earnings totaled 2,119 billion lire in 1939, 4.231 million lire in 1940, 10,118,500 lire in 1941, 12,298,000 in 1942 10,783,000 September 8, 1943. The ordinary reserve amounted to 2,200,000 lire, the extraordinary thing about 8.468 million. On March 11, 1940, the board increased the capital of 20-50 million lire, April 8, 1941 from 50 to 100 million liras. 80,000 shares were issued at a value of 1,000 lire each. The three became shareholders of twelve (80% Ferdinando Innocenti, 15% Rosolino Innocenti, Paolo Missiroli 5%). By way of thanks at the meeting of March 11, 1940, Edmondo Balbo (Italo Balbo's brother), Paolo Missiroli Innocent and two were elected to the board.

In 1942, Ferdinando Innocenti felt as a need to split the company, was one of two parts called Lambro and was responsible for carrying out business, the other, ATA (Applicazioni Tubolari Acciaio), was to address with the products. But the events of war in 1943 suggested that it should wait and during the meeting of 29 April 1943 Ferdinando was appointed president, sole director and CEO of the company.

After September 8, the company had to go through the trials of German military occupation, although the opposition of the interior has been very strong. Production of war supplies will not stop.

From Rome, Ferdinando was the business-related events and represent the constructive and balanced political relations between the German, RSI, CLN and democratic forces. Also provided financial support to the partisans. General Poletti was enthusiastic about his brilliant collaboration and is one reason why later, was not subject to the purge of the allied forces. In Rome, was certainly able to see a new industrial boom after the end of the war, in which he tried to keep the plants expenctancy as strong as possible for recovery. It was no coincidence that the bombing

of the allies, accurate information, hit only isolated important divisions, while most of the plants were left intact. As the slowdown in production was an advantage because the stock of raw material is widely used later to cover the costs of reconstruction.

At the end of the war of Ferdinando Innocenti went back to Milan, and after having called a meeting of a state worker, managed to get their cooperation. The conversion plan is determined.

INNOCENTI SAFTA

Ferdinando Innocenti, who since 1933 has enshrined the idea of tubes, in 1936 it was decided to build a facility dedicated to production. Mussolini, at the time wanted to complete the industrial center of Apuania. This was the place where the factory was carried out, and Innocenti to obtain funds necessary to build a new SAFTA (Società Anonima Tubular Steel Manufacture). Holdings, a minority went to Dalmine and a majority of the Innocents.

In 1942, the plant started in 1939 for the construction of seamless tubes was completed and production was partially started. The introduction, around 495 000 square meters wide, included 4 longitudinal parallel horizontal and three floors, containing 3 rolling mills of different lengths. 500 people were employed in the operation assigned to Ing. Alberto Calmes from Luxembourg. He was particularly experienced in the construction of pipes and had a deep knowledge of this activity is carried out in Germany, where he had left for political reasons. Thank you to his ability the tubes were produced directly from ingots and not from the animal rolled after welding. However, production does not continue after the opening phase because Kesserling in retirement, a part of industrial equipment in Germany and partly destroyed the installations.

In November 1948, when the reconstruction speed, the production of pipes and tubes for periods of oil and gas oil was started. Dalmine acquired all of the businesses and moved into SAFTA Another great production. The events of the war has seen a continued commitment to the construction of plants for the production of bullets Innocents. A huge bullet factory had been designed to Lambrate factory, and had to be the largest supplier of the Ministry of War.

Least two thirds building was interrupted for the events that took place September 8, 1943. The establishment consisted of four structures, two of which were already equipped with presses supplied by the Germans for the extrusion of sockets.

During the war years the Innocenti plant body under 150 and 250 kg of aerial bombs, reducing the tubes were used. Profits amounted to 840,000 in 1935. To avoid drawing a tax by tax basis of a 1935 law, many manufacturers have decided to invest in expanding its industrial activities. Innocenti thus expand the industrial structure, also because the plant was to provide a greater amount of bullets. Plants were moved from Rome to Milan, section MO / 1 was extended by diverting the river Lambro and an office building was built in the street Pitteri. Only the storage tank for trading tubes was left in Rome. With war production, the number of employees has doubled compared to 1934. The constant demand for hangar construction and production of pumps (Dalmine) tubes was made the company bigger and bigger.

The Innocenti factory already owned a large number of shares of Dalmine, and saw them grow into one of the largest private shareholders. The rapid growth of Fratelli Innocenti saw Ferdinando create a board and an audit committee with a meeting of April 16, 1936.
